Message from Conference Chair

Dear Colleagues,

Welcome to Taipei. It is with great pleasure that we invite you to attend the 2nd Scientific Meeting of Asian Society for Mitochondrial Research and Medicine (ASMRM). The congress will be held in The Taipei International Convention Center (TICC), Taipei, Taiwan on April 1-2, 2004.

Last year, a group of scholars, researchers and physicians in Asia organized the 1st ASMRM meeting in Seoul with the belief that understanding mitochondria is essential in solving mysteries of life and illness in human. With leadership of Dr. Hong Kyu Lee, president of ASMRM, the 1st Scientific Meeting of ASMRM was a great success. The first international conference brought together basic and clinical researchers who are investigating mitochondria. There were more than 200 participants from over 10 countries in the 1st Scientific Meeting of ASMRM meeting and its proceeding were published in Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences.

In the 2nd Scientific Meeting of ASMRM, the scientific program will consist of 3 plenary lectures, 4 special lectures featuring speakers from Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Singapore, the United States, and other countries as well as oral and poster presentations on the most up to date advances on mitochondria research.
