民國四十九年
牙醫學系與北醫同時創設,畢業校友有的在國內外各研究院所任職或進修,也有在衛生行政機構、各醫學院校及公私立醫院及診所服務或開業,亦有從事社會工作者.牙醫學系草創之初,係由教務主任兼醫科和牙科主任,民國五十三年始由牙醫師專任系主任。
1960
Dept of Dentistry, the forerunner of School of
Dentistry SOD, was founded upon establishment of Taipei Medical
College (TMC) - the forerunner of TMU. The early years graduates
have played vital roles in various sectors, such as serving in grad
schools or colleges domestically or overseas, practice as
practitioners in health administrations, university hospitals or
private/public hospitals or medical center, or works for social work
organizations. During the early years, Dean of Dept of Dentistry is
also Dean of Studies and Deans of Dept of Medical Science. It was
not until 1964 SOD first had an exclusive dean for leadership.
此時期師資多延聘留美日之牙醫界前輩,並常有美日學者訪校講演.最初幾屆畢業生均在十餘名左右,尚洽請巿立醫院及軍醫院提供實習場所;民國五十九年開始,畢業班增至三、四十名,董事會乃議決設立牙科門診部
。
During this stage, faculty members were
mostly learned dentistry PhDs having finished their postgraduate
study in US or Japan; besides, scholars from US and Japan as guest
speakers were often invited to campus. Concerning students’ practice
and internship, SON outsourced them to municipal hospitals and
military hospitals. It was not until 1970 TMC board could devise DD
with Dental Clinic.
民國六十年十月
暫設牙科門診部於信義路二段.民國六十五年八月本校附設醫院成立,牙科門診部同時開始門診初設復形科、贗復科、矯正科、口腔外科、口腔內科共計五科.
六十年代時期,牙醫學系在動盪中成長,人事更迭頻繁,師資設備不足,除極少數校友外,師資幾全來自外援,兼任之課程曾高達百分之八十六,然為學系之安定與發展,系內師生倖能善盡本分,在有限環境中自我磨練,並積極爭取學校重視。
Oct 1971
TMC Outpatient Dental Department (OPD) was first
founded on Section 2, Hsin-Yi Road, Taipei City. Next in August 1976
TMC Hospital began operations and OPD also started its dental service
through its five specialty sections: Orthodontics, Prosthodontics,
Restorative Dentistry, Oral Surgery, and Oral Medicine. In 1970’s DD
kept growing steadily under harsh conditions – all faculty members
were from external support, part-time instructors once contributed
to 86% of lecture hours. Thanks to the self-reliant attitude and
undefeated efforts of teachers and students DD survived and
performed well and won the notice and respect from TMC board.
民國六十九年
本系得以每年有較合理之預算,逐步成長.延聘和培植專任師資,為此時期奮鬥之目標,將專任師資授課之科目提昇至百分之八十五以上.學生實驗室亦於六十四年擴大至至一百二十名學生容量.各科並建立完善的教學系統和實驗課程,各具特色。
1980
DD saw steady growth thanks to more funds to
realistic budgets and put strengthening the faculty as goal for this
stage. Before long the lecture class taught by full-time instructors
raised to 85% and the lab for students was expanded to the capacity
for 120 students in 1975. Further, each course began establishing
all-around teaching system and lab courses and built own features.
民國七十年代
除師資外,設備亦大幅改善
1980’s
DD saw significant improvement in its equipment
and facilities in addition to that in faculty performance.
民國七十三年
隨杏春樓之啟用,本系得以擴充三分之一空間,開始設立各科研究室:有口顎生理學、補輟學、材料學、口腔組織病理學及
細菌學等研究室.教學設施亦於此時陸續引進各類視聽設備。
1984
Following the opening of newly built
HsinChunBuilding, DD won the opportunity to expand its space for
135%, and thus founded research labs: namely Oral Physiology,
Prosthodontics, Dental Material, Oral Histology-Pathology, and
Bacteriology. Audio and video teaching equipment were also
introduced to DD at this stage.
為提高教學素質,學生人數亦於七十三年起恢復為每班一百名,於七十七年再減招為八十名,並自七十八年起停辦轉系轉學招生.此時期本系之發展,除在校校友盡個人心力外,海內外校友
皆秉持著"關懷、服務、參與、迴饋"精神,積極協助母系之發展,多次提供龐大研究基金、獎學金、建設經費,捐贈多項圖書設備,功不可沒。
For enhancing teaching performance, the
student number slimmed to 100 students per class in 1984 and future
cut down to 80 students per class in 1988. Besides, DD stopped
accepting any transfer students in 1989. For the amazing development
of DD at this stage thanks must go to the alumni for their
tremendous contributions and efforts, in addition to the striving
efforts of current students; DD alumni members, no matter living
overseas or in home country, actively helped DD with providing huge
amount of research funds, grants, construction funds, library
equipment and joining fund raising activities and their high spirit
of service and paying concern.
民國八十一年
獲准成立口腔復健醫學研究所碩士班,教學設備及研究儀器也因應研究所之成立而添加不少,使牙醫學系、所的研究風氣更為蓬勃.且多位留學歐美、日本獲得博士學位之校友返校任教,使學系師資陣容更為堅強。
1992
Master’s Degree Program of Graduate Institute of
Oral Rehabilitation was approved and significant number of teaching
equipment and research instruments were introduced. These indeed
facilitate the research atmosphere in DD and the graduate school.
What is more was that a number of DD alumni supported DD by
returning to teach after having won their PhD overseas and this
helped build up a faculty stronger than ever.
民國八十二年
因教育部經費補助及校友會捐款,學生實驗室設備更新,且實施區隔污染之修繕,加強空調及視聽設備,使學生在更舒適之環境中做實驗.並於八十四年起開始招收推薦入學甄試學生。
1993
DD saw solid improvement in its student lab with
the reconditioning of the lab and update and replacement of lab
equipment made possible with supplementary funds from Ministry of
Education and donations from DD Alumni. Further, major repair in
student lab was made with pollution segregation device,
air-conditioning and audio-video equipment replacement and this made
it possible for student to enjoy comfortable lab. In 1995 DD began
its first “Recommendation and Screening” Admission practice to admit
students.
民國八十五年
恢復招收校內轉系生,為配合科技發展及提升教學品質而修訂牙醫學系新課程。牙醫學係一門科學與藝術相涵,學養與醫術並重之科學,除一般生命科學外,尚包括理工學、美學、倫理學,故教學內涵在於造就具人文素養之牙醫師。
1996
DD revitalized the in-house transfer student
admission system. Furthermore DD revised and implemented the updated
curriculum for Dentistry program that best reflects the latest
technology and enhance the training quality. At DD we take Dentistry
a unique synergy of science and art that values both competencies
and character. DD tries to enrich students with exposure in
aesthetics, ethics and technologies in addition to general life
science. In short, the core value of instruction given in DD aims at
preparing students to be the human-centered dentists.
基此信念和使命,四十年來,本系在有限環境下,發揮無限之意志,奮鬥成長。今後將在現有基礎上,繼續改善學生實驗及實習環境,充實研究設備,繼續培養優秀之醫療人才。
With this belief and mission, School of
Dentistry, SD, has strived with undefeated will under limited
environment in the last four decades. Now, SD is committed to
keeping bettering the student labs and facilities for practice,
equipping research instruments, and above all serving as the hub of
integrity that prepares the best people to be the best dentists and
dental experts.
